T1 Trust Update
We have many new members on here and we wanted to share some images we shared several years ago showing some of the detail our team has documented. Our team members spent our first several years as an organization at the Pennsylvania Archives in Harrisburg, PA sorting through thousands of drawings. After original drawings were found, they were scanned using a hi-resolution scanner. With those 2 dimensional drawings scanned, our engineers started converting them to 3 dimensional drawings in the computer, from which we can make real parts from.
These images represent thousands of hours of volunteer work. This project is truly a passion project and we thank them and you for helping us out along the way. Your donations help purchase the drawings and now those donations are helping build the locomotive.
What happens when a group of guys get together and say “We should build a Pennsylvania Railroad T1 from scratch”? General Manager Jason Johnson walks us through the history of the Pennsylvania Railroad T1 Trust project, the selection of the type of locomotive, and what it will take to get it running.
Here are some photos from our recent visit to inspect the boiler construction. We hope you enjoy as you are the supporters that are making this happen.
Please consider going to our website and becoming a reoccurring monthly donor. These contributions help us plan work out several months and makes it easier to budget. You can go to https://prrt1steamlocomotivetrust.org/donations to get setup.
Here are a few shots of our foundation ring (mudring). This is the bottom of firebox and what the entire firebox is built off of. All of the 200+ holes will eventually be filled with rivets. It is being completed at Steam Services of America shop and will soon be shipped to Gemini Industrial in Ohio to have the firebox sheets formed and fit. Once that is complete, the firebox will be shipped to St Louis to be joined with the rest of the boiler. We are getting excited to see all this come together.
You are seeing you donations at work. There is no big funding source behind this new steam build. It is coming from donors just like you.
Thank you!
